SBI Clerk Mains 2020: Exam Pattern

SBI Clerk Mains:

  • Conducting Body: SBI.
  • Mode of Examination: Online.
  • Timings: Separate timings are associated to each section.
  • Stages of Selection:
      1. Preliminary Examination
      2. Mains Examination
      3. Language Proficiency Test
      4. Final Merit List
  • Note: For the candidates who have not studied the local language in their schooling, a special language proficiency test will be conducted.

Marking Scheme for Preliminary Examination:

  1. Mark given for each right answer: 1.
  2. Mark deducted for every wrong answer: 1/4.
  3. Duration of the examination: 60 minutes.
  4. The marks obtained by the candidate in Preliminary stage will not be counted for the final merit list because these marks are only for the qualification of the candidate for moving to the next stage i.e. Mains.
  5. No cut off marks are stipulated by the recurring body. 
Note: No mark will be deducted for the questions left unattempted by the candidate.

Marking Scheme for Mains Examination:

  1. Mark given for each right answer: 1.
  2. Mark deducted for every wrong answer: 1/4.
  3. Duration of examination: 160 minutes.
  4. It is mandatory for the students to score minimum qualifying percentage marks in order to pursue the next level.
  5. SBI will publish the list of qualified candidates on the basis of marks obtained. Those candidates will be placed according to their rank and preferences.
  6. Merit list will be drawn according to State, category.
NOTE
  • 5% Relaxation will be given (in minimum qualifying percentage on aggregate marks) to the candidates belong to the reserved categories such as SC/ST/OBC/PWD/XS.
  • No minimum qualifying marks for individual subjects are prescribed.
  • Candidates are suggested to refer "Acquaint Yourself" booklet for any other detailed information. This booklet can be downloaded from Bank's website.
  • The call letter for the test will be available on the official website of the bank.

STAGE-III (Local Language Proficiency Test):

This test is mandatory only for the candidates who are qualified for the selection but have not provided any evidence regarding the study of specific opted local language in their schooling (10th or 12th standard).
Important Note: The candidates who fail in the language proficiency test will be considered ineligible for the post.

STAGE-IV (Final Selection)

Only marks obtained Mains Examination will be considered in preparation for the final merit list. The official website of SBI will publish the final merit list and appointment later will be provided to the selected candidates.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The candidates in the waiting list will be used in special cases like non-joining of the selected candidates or the resignation of any candidate from the current batch. The validity of the waiting list is one year (from the date of the result declared).
